All three of the main characters in the novel Ethan Frome impart duty in the cataclysm. Each one made mistakes that take to the fearful accidents which should attain killed Ethan and Mattie. Zeena should have talked more to Ethan so that she knew what was happening. She could have acted differently and could have fixed the paradox in her and Ethans marriage. Mattie also bears responsibility for the tragedy. Mattie shouldnt have led Ethan on. She knew Ethan was wed til now she still led Ethan on.
